This extensions is a real time-saver and seem to work great. However, it doesn't seem to backup my saves if I start and end a game in fullscreen mode. Is this by design?

Hi, fillidill! Sorry, I didn't see your message until now, but thanks for bringing that up. That's definitely not intentional. I'll see if I can figure out what's going wrong there.

Have you seen GameSaveManager? I have been using that to sync my saves in the could (Google Drive) so all my game saves would be accessible on any device. This plugin looks to do this locally, and I missing similar functionality?

This would allow Ludusavi to store saves in the cloud.

There’s an open feature request to support cloud storage. here is a workaround for now https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi/i...-666010312

The extension always gives me an error when I quit a game, if I manually copy the save it works, am I wrong or does the application have a bug?

I'm interested in solutions that everyone has come up with for emulation and this plugin. The brute force method would be to add a custom entry to Ludusavi for every emulated game, but that isn't really feasible. I use Retroarch, so I've added a custom entry for it. What I'd like to do is have Retroarch saves backed up whenever I finish playing an emulated game, but it doesn't look like there's a way to do that.

v0.7.0 is now available! https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi-p...tag/v0.7.0
Quote:Bboy486 There's a comparison with GSM and some other tools here: https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi#c...ther-tools . Ludusavi doesn't (currently) have built-in cloud support, but as Knice mentioned, you can combine Ludusavi with various cloud solutions. Quote:Luka8989 Could you elaborate on the error? Have you opened Ludusavi itself (not just Playnite) and configured some roots? Quote:themerchant One option would be to add custom entries for each platform and then enable platform backups for non-PC games. That's still not as efficient as a single custom entry, but much better than doing it for each individual game. Longer-term, aliases could streamline this (e.g., make one Retroarch custom entry with aliases for each platform name): https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi/issues/86

For many games, I always get an error stating "no save data found to backup for..." when I quit a game. However when I run ludusavi directly all the games and their save locations are detected, not sure what is wrong here but I wish someone can help me to make it work through playnite

That issue is probably because the game title does not match exactly between Playnite and Ludusavi. For example, Ludusavi has "Astroneer", but Steam and Microsoft Store have "ASTRONEER". There's a ticket to improve this: https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi/issues/86 . The plugin can fall back to mapping by Steam ID instead of by name, but that won't help with the Microsoft Store, for example. In the meantime, you can either make a custom entry in Ludusavi (so that it matches the Playnite name) or modify the Playnite name (so that it matches Ludusavi).
In other news, v0.10.0 of the plugin is now available! When combined with Ludusavi v0.12.0, this enables support for multiple backups per game. This release also adds an option for automatic backups on an interval while playing. Release: https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi-p...ag/v0.10.0

This is looking to be quite an improvement from the last time I checked on it ~2 years ago. The automated, rolling updates is such a great feature. My hurdle to using it is that I have hundreds of GameSaveManager backups already. Is there any easy way to mass convert those to Ludusavi backups? The idea of reinstalling thousands of gbs of games just to restore the GSM save so I can backup to Ludusavi is daunting.

@CriticalComposer There's no conversion option right now, but I can look into that. In the meantime, can GSM restore saves for games that aren't installed anymore? I tried it just now, and it wouldn't restore a save unless the folder already existed, but maybe I'm missing a setting to handle it. If there's a way to do it, that would at least give a quick way to convert the latest set of backups.
Edit: Created a ticket to track the backup import idea: https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi/issues/158 |
