ES-DE-FE-PN: EmulationStation-DE FrontEnd for PlayNite
https://github.com/ArchemedIan/esdefepn/releases
New Update: v1.6
lazy changelog:
- Improved first run setup
- made everything work better
- made the playnite url runner do its job (will (tryto) bring you back to ESDE and make ESDE pause screensavers now)
- added some links, ability to update ESDE via zip
Explaination:
there's nothing wrong with Playnite's full-screen mode..... but I don't like it.
this sets up an installation of EmulationStation-DE in your plugindata, to be used as a frontend for starting games using playnite.
this effectively makes playnite a middleman to run scripts, apply controller config per-game, etc. before (and after) starting a game, something that is extremely tedious to do for a Emulationstationsetup AS WELL as playnite.
it accomplishes this by making playnite shortcuts in a psuedo library in a portable install of ES-DE located in your plugin data dir (why platform mapping is needed
Install Instructions:
Download the .pext, double click, select "first run setup" from the add-on's menu
TODO:
- Add Pictures
- better readmes and documentation
- support categories, favorites, overrides and arguments from playnite's tags/notes/metadata
- custom themes/systems?
- possibly sync extra metadata like covers and backdrops?
