Hey everyone, here's a theme called Daze. Hope you'll like it!

Please keep in mind this is my first theme, I made it mainly for personal use and decided to share it, so I HOPE it all works properly. In case just let me know what's wrong  Big Grin

The theme is also slightly inspired by Harmony by darklinkpower (being my first theme, checking his code really helped for some parts since I'm totally new to .xaml)

Github repository: https://github.com/dariolupo/Daze_Theme
Download from Github here: https://github.com/dariolupo/Daze_Theme/releases

Features
  • Minimal and clean UI based on transparency and comfortable spacing
  • Borderless rounded covers (Only working perfectly when using IGDB as Metadata source for covers)
  • Displays rating in form of stars (1 to 5) under game covers in Grid View based on user score (Only when "Show game names in Grid view" is enabled in Playnite settings)
  • Support for most common add-ons, such as SuccessStory, HowLongToBeat, Extra Metadata Tools (videos), and News Viewer (thanks for the amazing add-ons to all creators!)
Mod to remove star rating system

If you don't want to have the stars under the covers in Grid View, you'll have to replace a file in your theme installation folder. You can download the file and instructions here.

Update 1:
I'm not very active here, but I'll try me best to check the forums every now and then. I'm not actively working on the theme, it was mainly a personal project. For edits which require coding feel free to check the code and edit it as you wish.

Update 2:
For people asking how to remove/change the transparency of unselected covers: it's not an easy fix, but also you'll end up having UX issues, because you won't be able to distinguish between the selected and unselected covers anymore since the theme doesn't feature borders.

More info
  • The best way to use this theme without issues is using the suggested settings shown before
  • The star rating display method based on user score is the following:
  1. 0-20 = 1 star
  2. 20-40 = 2 stars
  3. 40-60 = 3 stars
  4. 60-80 = 4 stars
  5. 80-100 = 5 stars
  • The rounded covers only work properly when using covers downloaded from IGDB, when using other formats there will be issues (such as rounded corners not displaying at the bottom of the cover)

Consider adding the theme to add-on database, it will make it way easier for people to find, install and update your theme:

I already made the change of the covers by IGDB metadata but the edges continue to appear wrong, with black corners and without rounding, how can I fix it?

That's weird. Did you select 3:4 in the settings as covers aspect ratio and redownloaded all covers from IGDB? Doing that should make it work.

Love the theme! Though I do have one issue. I can't get background images to show up in Grid View like in your screenshot. I know I have them since I can see them in Details View:

But when I go into Grid View, I don't get a background...

Any advice?

Glad you like it! That's very strange.
Do you have Show on Grid view checked in the Appearance settings?

...whoops! Somehow I forgot to look in the General section of appearance since I thought it would be in Grid View...that makes sense though. Thanks!

Really love the theme, thanks! Is there any way to get the background image to display above the Game title instead of only as the background in grid view? When checked in the options it does not appear in the grid view.

I love the layout of this one with some modified settings for grid view. Is there a possibility to make the game image transparency effect adjustable? It's maybe a little too hazy for my setup.

Thanks!

Hello!

Love the theme, but is there any way to "compact" the details area like you have in the descriptions?
Followed the instructions but the fonts are quite large for my taste.

This is my favourite theme so far, so it's unfortunate that it crashes playnite everytime I try launching it. I used the settings you provided, which for some reason stopped it crashing with a report, and now it simply just closes. Any ideas?

Is there a way to make the cover arts less transparent?

The theme looks fabulous. I was wondering how to get my search box to look like yours in the screenshot. At the moment, my search box is opaque, grey-coloured, and without the search icon. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the theme, I love it !
I have a little request though... Could you release a version without the "not selected game darkened". I like to see well all my covers Smile

I really like the theme, looks pretty nice and compact.

It would've been really nice, if you could integrate DuplicateHider so the theme could show duplicate games as well!

Hey there,

I love this theme but I'm having trouble making it look like yours. The stars are missing on the grid view, the How long does it take isn't showing numbers on the details panel only the coloured bars are showing up.

I can't seem to attach a screenshot. It just returns an error every time I try.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I love your theme, but how do I minimize the spacing in the game list on the left side in the details view?

There is so much screen estate wasted there? Can you provide an option for the Theme Modifier? (my icon size is 16, so it does not help).

Hi, I was wondering the same thing. Were you able to solve this?

Hi! I'm sorry but I don't really understand what you mean, could you explain it better?
As for the fonts, you can just change the size of them in Playnite settings and see how it looks.

Hi! Not without editing the code, you could try that but I'd not advise it because you will end up dealing with an UX issue since you'll not be able to properly see which game you have selected. The transparency values I used are the ones I found to work the best.

Hi! This is very strange and I'm sorry but honestly don't know how to help you, maybe you can ask someone on the Discord? There's a theme support channel there. Not sure if it has something to do with your settings or plugins you have installed.
