Informations
This plugin can manage your cover and background images with more formats and more options.

With this plugin you can:

have multiple cover and background images
change the image on the game selection or/and with a timer
selected a favorite image
use APNG, WEBP (with webinfo) and MP4 files
convert WEBP to MP4 to improve animation performance (with ffmpeg & webinfo)

Experimental
In the options, you can enable the use animated images for the background and cover.
This is an experimental feature with some bugs and possible memory leaks and some slowness.
You can improve performance by converting webp files to mp4 files.

Localization
The plugin is localized.
It's possible to translate the extension on crowdin

Custom theme integration
Addition in a custom theme

Thanks for your work! Wonderful idea to implement as an extension! As I understand, it's only possible to rotate randomly only those wallpapers which have been imported manually? Not through metadata sources?

Exactly.
I don't think that the plugins can use the metadata plugins.

If you disable background images for the details panels and enable "use game background image as window background" (I personally do this to have the background image expand across the window instead of only filling in the game page) with this plugin enabled, it either leaves the window background image blank, or doesn't seem to work, leaving this option to only pull from the normally-set background image. Is this an oversight that can be fixed, something that can already be solved, or is it simply not possible to use this option with this plugin and have the window background change due to pulling from what's supposed to be a changing game background?

Some elements from plugin are perfectible.
I'm working to optimize it.

The next version will also be able to manage cover images.

Would it be possible for this extension to suspend and resume based on game activity? As example when I launch a game have this extension stop changing\animating the backgrounds and then resume once I've exited the game and returned to Playnite?

It's already the case.
If there is an issue, I changed the system with the version 2.x.

Yes, but the theme must integrate the plugin.

This doesn't seem to function anymore. I stopped using it for awhile before Playnite v.9 and have since tried to pull it back up. Seems like no matter what I do, all I can get to display for a game is the default background I've selected through Playnite. Not sure where to go with that. Thanks!

Do you used a compatible theme?

Thanks for reaching out! I've tried it with several of the Default and Classic playnite themes, which I thought were all compatible. Maybe I missed something and I need to use a different theme?
