Xbox One Controller shuts down on game exit

I have a weird issue with Playnite when using my Xbox One controller via the Xbox One Wireless Adapter.

If I run a game from Playnite, let the controller turn off due to inactivity (or by taking out the battery), active the controller again and then quiet the game, the controller shuts down at the exact moment that Playnite takes focus again.

This only happens during these exact circumstances.

It does not happen:
- when the controller stays one while the game is running.
- when launching a game outside Playnite.
- when I alt-tab out and shut down Playnite while the game is running.
- when connected via Bluetooth. (only via Xbox One Wireless Adapter)

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

PS:

I have commented on this in this bug thread that seems to be related: https://github.com/JosefNemec/Playnite/issues/1618

Also, this Reddit-thread seems to be about a related issue as well:

doe you use any 3rd party (or even 1st party) apps with your controller ?

Like for example do you see notifications about battery or so of your controller if it's low or any other apps to do something extra with your controller ?

have you tried disabling guide button focuses gamebar in windows 10 settings
have you tried this when steam was not running

I answered some of this on Discord, so I'm just repeating it here to make sure it available for anyone else how wants to look into it:

There is no 1st party app for Xbox One / Series X controllers. I use Controller Companion to navigate the desktop, but it happens when that is not running as well.

Disabling the guide button and closing Steam doesn't help.

Also from my answer on Discord:

I can add that it happens with both Xbox One controllers and Xbox Series X/S controllers, but not with 360 controllers. It happens with games from Epic, Steam, GOG etc.

If anyone else would like to try to reproduce this, make sure you leave the controller off for about 10 seconds before you put the battery back in. If not it seems the computer might not register the connection as lost.

I have experienced this also, I have only just started using Playnite, previously I used Steam BPM and never experienced this.

My machine is basically a Steam Machine and is used as a DIY console, so 99% Xbox gamepad usage, but I just started noticing this turning off behaviour, I thought at first it was my batteries, so I tried disposables and still does the same, tried several controllers, Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox Series S, all do the same thing, haven't tested over Bluetooth as this machine doesn't have Bluetooth, but I have both early and latest USB wireless dongles, both have same behaviour.
