Amazing! If you could somehow magically create a possibility of background music it would be even more amazing

Cool extension, I love this. Here's one for Xbox fans.
(Included a couple other sounds that didn't work well for me, might work better for you)
I made some of my own sound effects in Ableton Live if anyone else would like to use them. The file is attached to this post
Here's a youtube link if you'd like to hear them before downloading them. Edit: oops I thought I attached the file but it turns out it was too large Here is a Mega link instead.

I didn't actually link to the wrong place, I just didn't realize that the folder was too large for this forum and so I assumed it had uploaded when it had not. I put a link to it on Megaupload on the comment one above yours and now the Youtube video links to the proper download as well. Sorry about that

Thanks a lot u should do the same for desktop mode ?
11-04-2020, 11:36 AM
You can actually pretty easily add the included files to desktop mode if you'd like. Copy all of the .wav files to a separate folder so that you now have the sound files in your Playnite folder and the same sound files outside that folder. Then change the name of the copied files from starting with F_ to starting with D_. So for example, "F_ApplicationStarted.wav" becomes "D_ApplicationStarted.wav" (the F_ indicates it's for fullscreen, the D_ is for desktop). Once you've renamed all of them, you can copy the renamed files into the Playnite folder and you should then have the same sound on desktop and fullscreen mode. I elected not to include them as standard because you'd essentially be downloading twice as much for no reason since it's a fairly simple change.
If you meant make a whole new set of sounds for desktop, I'm open to suggestions for what kind of effect sounds anyone would like. I make music for a hobby so I can make little effects like this pretty quickly and easily.

yeah i know but i think the fullscreen sound effect will not fit the mood of desktop version of playnite. I m not an artist so i cant create or do something that will fit properly.

Is there some way to mute the sound? Or is the sound on all the time?

If you want to temporary mute for 5 minutes or so not possible (yet), if you never want to hear a certain sound erase the file related to the event. Or if you only want sound in fullscreen mode erase all files starting with d_. Adding mute support will also only work in desktop mode. I've got a development version where it can play a music mp3 file per game per platform selected. so you can play specific game music while being on that games selection. If no music file exists for another game, music is stopped and until a new selection is made that has music. But i'm currently having more fun working on the html exporter to create a website based on templates out of your playnite data. I have text only version and graphics version (where you will have to copy folders from playnite). The text only version can easily be zipped up and does not take that much space and be shared with friend, or use the graphic version and host it on a (local) webserver so friends can view that on your webserver. External webserver is probably not a good idea as images take up quite a lot of space and bandwidth although they are lazzy loaded (using lazload)
Hello, I have made a edit for sounds for full screen only with Sound FX from Xenosaga 1 if theres any old school JRPG fans here. Enjoy.
Here is Kingdom Hearts sounds! https://mega.nz/file/19siRTjZ#WvRFnUqaZx...FFFqJgRP5c
I only get the Application Stopped sound. No other sounds work, with default sounds or custom sounds installed.
https://pastebin.com/8SaXR1Wm So I noticed timboy had the same problem and fixed it! Lucky for us he didn't help anyone out without a solution! But I now have a solution to my problem at least. What I had to do was go to the Windows Start Menu > Search > "Turn Windows Features On or Off". On this dialog there is a folder called Media Features, expand it and then make sure Windows Media Player is SELECTED. I had it turned off, but when I changed this it started working instantly. Anyway, thank you. A very cool extension to enhance many themes.

Too bad i can't release the new version, i converted it to c# and added music options but there is a weird bug in it where sounds stop playing after a while anyone able to build it themselves can try it out tough, the sources are on github

I like the extension now that I have been using it. I will try the c# a little later if I have time. One bug I have noticed is switching tabs, sometimes plays the sound twice.

V2.0 Release:
V2.0 contains a bug where the normal sound files stop playing using playnite sounds when music is used. I can not fix this bug but when this happens you can reload audio files and they should play again. Also if you don't need music you can keep using the V1.1 version where this bug did not seem to happen. Release video: Download the new pext here: https://github.com/joyrider3774/Playnite...s/tag/v2.0

Thank you so much for such an awesome extension!) I was very happy and very much looking forward to the possibility of background music for each game..You have fulfilled my dream=) But early on I was happy( For some reason my background music doesn't work in general..In the extension settings, I set,for each game and each platform and threw an audio file with the name.for example (DOOM Eternal. mp3, Assasin's Creed 3. mp3) threw in the folder Music files specified for each game but the music does not play unfortunately( The sound works great! And the music is not( Please help me maybe I'm doing something wrong..

did you watch the release video ??? music is disabled by default.. have to enable it in settings (where to play setting.. it's set to never by default) and press save. Also filenames need to match what plugin expects it to be so use the show music filename option and make sure your filenames and locations matches
