This add-on scans rom folders for their official metadata files. It imports extracted data into Playnite.
It supports extracted roms for the following platforms:
FAQs:
Q. How do I use this?
A. Filter your games by platform. Select the roms that you want to extract data. Right click and choose the option you want under the menu 'Import Data'
Q. Will it damage my Playnite if I choose the wrong option?
A. No. It checks the platform and the rom format before extracting data. It will not proceed if any are incorrect.
Q. The options for Xbox and Vita do not appear in the menu. Where are they?
A. Their options are hidden by default. To enable them, go to 'Import Data' in the Game Menu and select "Enable the advanced menu options for 'Import Data from Roms - MetaData'".
Q. Why are the Vita and Xbox options hidden?
A. I do not have reliable data on the codes for Vita and Xbox. Their menu options will work but the extracted data may not be correct. Use at your own risk. If you have better data for either Vita or Xbox codes, inform me by DM or reply to this thread.
Q. It doesn't work. I scanned my roms and I got a message that the roms were not in a compatible format.
A. It reads metadata files in extracted roms. It can not read these if your roms are in ISO format.
Q. Will it import background art?
A. No. To import icons or background art, use the add-ons below.
Import Media - Nintendo Wii U https://playnite.link/forum/thread-891.html
Import Media - Sony PlayStation 3 https://playnite.link/forum/thread-889.html
Import Media - Sony PlayStation Vita https://playnite.link/forum/thread-1430.html
Compatibility: Due to the Great 8 Break, this add-on is not compatible with any version of Playnite after v8.15.
(I may convert this for Playnite 9+ if somebody can explain all of the changes that are needed to convert P8 scripts to P9)
